Hippos cause a stampede in Finnish Theatres

On a recent visit to Finland we were greeted by a strange and wonderful sight – Almost every single theatre in Finland was either renting a Hippotizer for their current show or had purchased a Hippotizer for permanent install.

In a country with a population of less than 5.3 million (around half the size of London) the number of Hippotizers purchased and rented on a regular basis is nothing short of astounding and reflects not only the quality and versatility of the product but the fantastic job done over there by our long time distributor and good friend Mr Johan West of West Lighting.

Spending 3 days with him was like spending time with The Tazmanian devil; up at all hours, never sitting still for longer than 5 minutes and zooming around Finland visiting customers and potential customers like a whirling dervish. Aided and abetted by long time Hippotizer user and all round great guy Mikki Kunttu, Johan has succeeded in causing an official stampede of Hippos across Finnish theatres.

With permanent installs at the Tampereen Työväen Teatteri, Oulu Citytheatre, Martinus Sali, Vantaa, Kerava Sali, Lahti Citytheatre, Espoo City Theatre, Verkatehdas, Hämeenlinna, Espoo Centre of Culture, Helsinki City Theatre & Tampere Theatre you would be forgiven for thinking there was nowhere else to put a Hippotizer in Finland, however Johan proved us wrong and has rentals and upcoming rentals at both The Savoy Theatre & Svenska Teatern i Helsingfors.

Boasting productions as diverse as High School Musical 2, Mary Poppins, the upcoming PlayMe and even a Nokia Missio Conference, once again the Hippotizer has proven that it is a flexible, powerful and effective media server that can handle pretty much anything you throw at it.

Johan, (in the brief moment we got him to stand still!), pointed out “Hippotizer has long been my media server of choice because it is just so versatile. It has so many features that are needed by the theatres and if they need a new feature then 9 out of 10 times Green Hippo delivers.That kind of response is invaluable and couple that with the powerful engine and true HD playback and I wouldn’t use another server”.
