Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team Party

The Malaysian Grand Prix, one of the main events in Formula 1, came and went this year once again with the usual practice rounds, qualifiers and the Race on 10th April, as well as the inevitable parties.

While unfortunately not making the first three (these were 1. RBR Renault, 2. McLaren, 3. Renault) Mercedes GP Petronas did however hold their high-profile annual event. In partnership with anglo-swiss Watchmaker Graham London, they arranged a party with music, fashion and much more at Simfoni Lake in Kuala Lumpur’s City Centre.

This ‘Mercedes GP Petronas Formula 1 Team’ celebration, organised by CD Events in Malaysia, was a great way to promote FIA World Championship F1 Racing in Malaysia, raise awareness of premium partners Mercedes and Pretonas as well as serve as a great business opportunity for Mercedes Benz Malaysia and Petronas clients and business associates.

Working with CD Events, Kumar Shan and Yeap Hong Gee created an excellent video display for the occasion. They used two Hippotizer GrassHoppers networked via HippoNet and an HP Gigabit Switch connecting to four 15K Sanyo projectors to create some impressive curved screen projection. Front of House everything was controlled using an Avolite Pearl Expert unit with ArtNet running over a 3com Router and the Hippotizers DMX Component facilitating the set-up.

There were 2 curved screens set-up within the venue and using the Hipopotizer’s ScreenWarp component Kumar and Yeap were able to align the content onto these. This was mostly custom content for the event from the clients Mercedes and Petronas.
 

While the DJ was playing and during the various parts of the parts of the event Kumar and Yeap used Hippo Stock content plus some additional content to create a video display that complemented the atmosphere.

Kumar remarked that: “We are very happy with our new investment in Hippotizer media servers. [...] I’m a lighting guy; I like the response speed from the Hippotizer when I bring up playback faders on the Avolite console. Awesome! Nice!”

Green Hippo is always thrilled to hear about the different projects our that our Hippotizers get to work on and this is a great example from the other side of the world.
