New Years Eve on the Palace Square, St Petersburg - Russia

On New Year’s Eve 2011 and for 8 days after, a lighting extravaganza of Hippotizer media servers, projection, music, space cannons and lasers took place around the Federal Cultural Institution "The State Hermitage" in St. Petersburg.
 

The State Hermitage is a former Palace, now an art museum - founded in 1764 when Empress Catherine the Great purchased a collection of Flemish and Dutch paintings (225) from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernest Gotzkowski.

The collection of the State Hermitage includes more than three million works of art and artefacts of the world culture. Among them are paintings, graphic works, sculptures and works of applied art, archaeological finds and numismatic material.

 
PRG and Bright! Gmbh worked together to create a spectacular show in the Palace Square in front of the Hermitage Building in St Petersburg. The buildings were lit with VL3500 Profiles , Mac2000 Wash and Barco HD30+ with video driven by4 Hippotizer HD media servers.

Thomas Giegerich from Bright! Gmbh said “ This was a turnkey installation – press one button and the Hippotizers would do all the work.. Video, sound, the whole time coded music show”
“ScreenWarp and Mapping were used for the mapping of the projection on to the building. The centre section of the buildings had an overlap; we used the Hippotizer’s softedge blending capabilities and that worked like a charm”

Equipment list:
3 Hippotizers, 2 Active and 1 Backup -  Each hippo was outputting 1920p on the first out, and 1400x1050 on the second output.
Projectors - 2 quad stacks of Barco 20k. - Projectors for the outer projection
2 triple stacks 20k's for the centre part of the building.
