The Knight of Illumination Awards is the key showcase of entertainment lighting and video design work in the UK. Now in its 11th year, the event has continued to grow in stature, evolving into one of the most credibly and sought-after UK industry awards in the lighting, projection and digital content design for entertainment sector.

This year’s event takes place on 16 September 2018 and Green Hippo returns as a patron, sponsoring again the ‘Video Design & Graphic Display’ award – a coveted accolade in the ‘Television’ category. The two British associations of lighting designers, the STLD and ALD, will join the KOI committee to select a winner from the three below shortlisted entries.

BBC Children in Need Rocks the 80s

The graphics were the set – an incredibly effective way to achieve multiple settings in one space. The production turned on a sixpence as the atmosphere and setting changed in a way physical scenery can rarely achieve.

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show S3
Alberta Torres
Simple and clever graphics. Alberta delivered a colourful ‘cartoony’ feel which suited Michael McIntyre’s style perfectly. The set itself is a traditional proscenium layout but the projections on the stage legs and cyclorama made for great, punchy looks.

The graphics were such an integral part of this incredible, moving work – you could feel the hairs rising. Stunning, thought provoking, and incredibly moving.  A huge technical achievement, but one where the artistic achievement was even greater.
