The annual Academy Awards, ‘The Oscars’ – is movie world’s biggest event and Green Hippo played its part at the world-famous event’s 88th gathering.

First held in 1929, at a private dinner, first broadcast on radio in 1930, and televised for the first time in 1953, The Oscars consists of 24 awards for artistic and technical merit in the American film industry, given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood was again the venue – it has hosted The Oscars since 2002 – and Hippotizer Media Servers helped dress the David Rockwell-designed auditorium.

Hippotizer Taiga Media Servers were used for playback on a group of LED screens, comprising of one large fixed unit and nine moveable screens. The servers were running Hippotizer 4.2 software, the latest version of the award-winning tech which counts performance improvements as well as new features, such as advanced ZooKeeper start-up options, and Notch integration.

The result of this fully loaded Hippotizer system was a show to match the illustrious event, and one which ran without a hitch or a glitch. If you’d like to experience the Hippotizer technology as used at The Oscars, check out Hippotizer PLAY, Green Hippo’s free to download, demo version of the massively popular software.
