Zac Brown Band hit the road in style during 2017. The multi-platinum outfit racked up over 40 dates as it criss-crossed North America on its ‘WELCOME HOME’ headlining tour, playing amphitheatres, arenas, and baseball stadiums, including Coors Field, the Hollywood Bowl, and Wrigley Field.

Okulus, a creative design outfit recognised for its innovative shows and experiences, went to work on its plans for the tour, immediately adding a pair of Hippotizer Boreal Media Servers to its checklist-both of them with quad SDI capture cards installed driven by Artnet and Timecode. On the night, one Boreal acted as backup, and the active machine’s four outputs fed an impressive video and lighting arrangement. Outputs one and two fed the main wrap around the LED wall and the central portrait iMag surface. The Boreal’s third output fed the vertical lines of the Martin VDO Sceptron, and the roof ‘ribbon video’ framing the foot of the wrap. And the fourth output fed the iMag screens, left and right of the stage.

The Boreal is our Swiss Army Knife of Media Servers, we know that no matter what is thrown at us we have the right tool to make it happen.

The fans also perfectly played their parts, with the audience-facing camera set-up, including a pair of fixed long lens, a pair of handhelds, and a bunch of robocams. The tour was a resounding success with the GRAMMY-winning band compellingly delivering not just its own hits, but also those from the likes of Guns n’ Roses, Metallica, and Queen.
